ilar,t Qftt ]arft,(otorabo ro tiamatlo II WHEREAS,the National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May,inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation;and WHEREAS,the National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress,and signed into law by President Harry S.Truman;and WHEREAS,Public Law 105-225,August 12,1998,112 Stat.125$ states:The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches,in groups,and as individuals;and WHEREAS,the Religious Community of Estes Park joins with all faiths to support the intent of both the 1952 joint resolution and the 199$law and encourage our community’s participation in the National Day of Prayer according to each individual’s religion and beliefs;and WhEREAS,based on our understanding that this country counts freedom of conscience and free exercise of religion among its most fundamental principles,and that we recognize the importance of prayer in providing guidance and inspiration;and WHEREAS,we know Estes Park is a great place to live because of those who serve us in the public spheres.
