HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Kunze, Fritz 1995-11-24WHEREAS,Frederick J.Kunze has,for the past 15 years organized annual trips to the Estes Park area
for groups of men for outdoor adventure and fellowship;and
WHEREAS,by virtue of these trips,he has encouraged commerce in the Town of Estes Park (including
mountain guide services,car repairs,climbing equipment,Old West photos,fine art,all souvenirs
and,of course,the Trout Haven)and personally shopped at great length and expense;and
WHEREAS,by sharing his fondness for the Estes Park area,he has ensured a self-perpetuating stream
of Midwesterners into Estes to recapture lost youth and share the experience with new friends and
family;and
WHEREAS,he has not lost a single climber to serious injury (or worse)despite the non-stop 20-hour
car ride,too little time for acclimation,and the total inexperience of most of the climbing teams;and
WHEREAS,his companions have accomplished multiple ascents on all reasonable approaches to Long
Peak (no,the Diamond is not reasonable),overcoming altitude-induced thoughts about the relative
appeal of hurtling oneself off a cliff versus continuing on,the loss of innumerable lunches,and only
one formal rescue mission;and,finally
WHEREAS,he has added immeasurably to the quality of life of his fellow man through his romantic
spirit,his thirst for adventure,and his appreciation for the value of shared joys and hardship.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that Friday,November 24,1995,is hereby designated as
FRITZ KUNZE DAY
in the Town of Estes Park,Colorado.
