HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Hix Jr, Charles Franklin 2011 Pioneer Award 2011-06-03Qftt Jark,QDoorabo ro clamatto II WHEREAS,Charles Franklin “Frank”Hix,Jr.has generously served our organization in his leadership as both President and Board Member,contributing to the growth and development of our Museum as well as preserving and celebrating the history of the Estes Valley,and WHEREAS,using his knowledge of the early automobile, Frank was largely responsible for the establishment of the Stanley Museum here in Estes Park,giving generously of his time to introduce its visitors to steam car history and the other critically important contributions that FO.Stanley made to early Estes Park,and WHEREAS,it should be noted that Frank was directly responsible for reviving and organizing the Parade of Years,an event commemorating and celebrating Estes Park’s automobile history,an event that F.O.Stanley himself participated in during its founding year back in 1936,and WHEREAS,Frank made the conservation of our heritage a personal priority,whether to save the Stanley Power Plant on Fall River following the Lawn Lake Flood of 1982,or to save the manse of Estes Park’s first church by having it moved to a new site where it could be enjoyed by others. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Trustees of the Town of Estes Park proudly proclaim Charles Franklin Hix, Jr.,the recipient of the 2011 Pioneer Award presented by the Estes Park Museum Friends and Foundation on this day,the 3’of June,2011.
