HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Financial Literacy MonthQftc.ark,(otorabo ro clamatlo a ‘WREREAS,the financial landscape in the United States has changed significantly over the past several decades,and individuals must take greater charge of their financial well being,both during and after their working years;and a lack of financial literacy can have costly consequences for individuals and for our overall quality of life;and WHEREAS,a survey by the Estes Valley Library of more than 500 residents confirmed the local need for increased financial literacy education;and WHEREAS,the Estes Valley Library was selected in 2012 to continue its original two-year grant from the American Library Association and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation to providing funding for financial literacy education for children, teenagers,working adults,and retirees; WHEREAS,the grant has already provided over 447 community workshops and sessions involving over 4762 hours of individual participant instruction from January 2010 through June of 2013;and ‘WUEREAS,April 2014 is National financial Literacy Month across the United States,and the Estes Valley Library will continue offering financial education throughout 2014,including special activities and workshops during the month of April. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby proclaim April 2014, FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH In witness whereofI have hereunto set my hand and cau$d this seat to be affixed. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby proclaim April 2013, FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH in the Town of Estes Park,Colorado,and encourage all citizens to take advantage of the Estes Valley Library’s financial education activities to improve our financial literacy.
