WHEREAS, Estes Recycles Day provides Estes Valley
locals an opportunity to recycle electronics, which, by
law, may not be deposited into landfills or single
stream recycling bins in Colorado, and
WHEREAS, it is essential, for security purposes, to shred
papers containing personal and financial information
before recycling them, and
WHEREAS, the 2024 Estes Recycles Day collection includes
compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, bicycle tires and tubes,
and smoke detectors to further extend recycling opportunities for
our residents and businesses, and
WHEREAS, recycling metal objects, including hardware, broken
tools, leaky pails, appliances, microwaves, and other items which
are at least 50% metal, reduces the need to mine new metal, and
WHEREAS, donations from the Premiere Members Credit Union, the
Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary Club, the Town ofEstes Park, and the Village
Thrift Shop offset the cost of recycling again this year, and
WHEREAS, to improve sustainability, promote good disposal habits, and
establish a circular economy, the League of Women Voters Community
Recycling Committee, the Rotary Club of Estes, and the Town of Estes Park
have organized this multi-purpose recycling activity on August 10th, 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the
Trustees of the Town ofEstes Park do hereby proclaim August 10, 2024,
ESTES RECTCLES DAY
and enthusiastically call upon the citizens of Estes Park to bring their "hard
to recycle" disposables and join everyone else at the Town of Estes Park
Event Center parking lot to celebrate Estes Recycles Day by recycling.
