HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Centennial Year of the Woman's Club 2012Qtr irk,(tLotor&io ro clamatlo ii WHEREAS,the Estes Park Woman’s Club was founded in 1912 and is celebrating its one-hundredth year of service to our community;and WHEREAS,the Woman’s Club has been the catalyst for civic improvement in our community,pre-dafing the incorporation of the Town itself;and WHEREAS,the Woman’s Club was instrumental in supporting the establishment of Rocky Mountain National Park,hosted the dedication ceremonies of the Park in 1915,and helped keep the Park Headquarters in Estes Park;and WHEREAS,the Woman’s Club started the first Town Library in 1916,built the Library building in 1922,operated it for many years,and presented the Library to the Town in 1969; and WHEREAS,the Woman’s Club has been the sparkplug for numerous projects over the past 100 years that have benefitted the economic development and quality of life of this community;and WHEREAS,the Woman’s Club has planned a series of educational and social events to celebrate its remarkable tenure;and WHEREAS,the Woman’s Club is the longest-continuing force for community betterment in Estes Park. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby proclaim 2012 as the CENTENNIAL YEAR OF THE WOMAN’S CLUB and encourage our citizens to join in congratulating this extraordinary organization by helping to celebrate its service in the past and its promise of service for the future.
