tkeMar4t Qtt arft,(Lotorabo to tiamatlo It Celebrating the Centennial of Rocky Mountain National Park WHEREAS,Rocky Mountain National Park was designated by the United States Congress and signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson as a national park on January 26,1915;and I6THEREAS,the Town of Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park have a proud history of friendship,partnership and mutual support;and WHEREAS,Estes Park,Grand Lake and other local communities worked together with members of Congress to achieve Wilderness designation for Rocky Mountain National Park in 2009 to help sustain the ecological health of the Park,guarantee the economic vitality of local communities,and ensure that the Park remains as it is today for future generations of visitors to enjoy and explore,and forever remain as breathtaking as it is today; ‘WHEREAS,the Park preserves Colorado’s unique natural landscape and abundant wildlife for millions of people to behold each year,serving as a sanctuary for adventure,learning and reflection;and WHEREAS,many Estes Park citizens make their homes in Estes Park to be near Rocky to recreate,volunteer and become stewards of the Park;and iVHEREAS,with headwaters in Rocky Mountain National Park,water from the Colorado River system supports the needs of the Estes Valley;and WHEREAS,Rocky Mountain National Park is a year-round world-class destination that is key to the sustainability and health of Estes Park’s businesses and employment of our working families;and ‘WHEREAS,Rocky’s Centennial provides Estes Park with countless opportunities for special events to “Honor the Past,Celebrate the Present,and Inspire the Future.” NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby wholeheartedly congratulate Rocky Mountain National Park on its 100th Anniversary,and encourage all citizens and guests of Estes Park to celebrate this international treasure,and to take every opportunity to enjoy Rocky during its Centennial year,and in the years ahead. —I William C.Pinkham,Mayor AUest =ebruary 24,2015 ©2305 www,Munjcjp AL (256)739-5951
