AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.31 OF
TIlE ORDINANCES OF TIlE TOWN OF ESTES PARK
PERTAINING TO TIlE INSTALLATION AND MAINTE
NANCE OF ELECTRICAL WIRES AND APPLIANCES
FOR SAFEGUARDING LIFE AND PROPERTY AND
LICENSING ELECTRICIANS WITHIN TIlE TOWN OF
ESTES PARK,COLORADO.
BE IT ORDAINED 3Y TilE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TIlE
TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO:
Section 1.That the first sentence of Section 1
of said Ordinance No.31 be amended to read as follows:
“Section 1.All electric wiring hereafter
installed,including additions,extensions,or
changes in existing wiring used for the trans
mission of current for light,heat,or power,
in or on all buildings located within the fire
limits within the town of Estes Park shall be
installed in approved steel conduit or metal
moulding,and all electric wiring hereafter
installed in the Town of Estes Park and without
the fire limits of said Town including additions,
extensions or changes in existing wiring used
for electrical current shall be installed in
approved steel conduit or armored cable.U
Except as above mentioned,said Section 1 shall
remain in full force and effect.
Section 2.That the second line of Section 2
of said Ordinance No.31 is hereby amended to read as follows:
“The initial fee for such license to engage
in the business of installing electrical wiring
and equipment shall be 5O.OO and the fee f or
each yearly renewal for such license shall be
25.OO’
Except as amended hereby,said Section 2 shall
remain in full force and effect.
Section 5.That Section 3 of said Ordiance No.
31 be amended so that wherever the words “Fire Chief”appear
in said Section 3,there shall be substituted the words
“Electrical Inspector”and except as hereby amended said
Section 3 shall remain in full force and effect.

Section 4.That there is hereby added to said
Ordinance No.51 the following to be known as Section 5 A:
“Section 5.
A.There is hereby created the office
of Electrical Wiring Inspector who shall be
appointed by the Town Board and who shall hold
office at the pleasure of the Town Board and who
shall receive such compensation as the Town Board
may by resolution provide.Said Inspector shall
inspect all electrical work covered by this
Ordinance and shall enforce the provisions thereof
concerning inspection and aproval or disapproval
of the installation of electrical wiring and
electrical apparatus.”
Section 5.That there is hereby added to said
Ordinance No.31 the following to be known as Section 5 3:

B.No alterations or additions shall
be made in the existing wiring of any building,
nor shall any building be wired f or the placing
of any electric lights,motors,heating devices,
or any apparatus requiring the use of electrical
current,nor shall any alterations be made in any
electrical appliances or the wiring in any building
after inspection,without first notifying the
electrical inspector and securing a permit therefor,
a5 provided in Section 5 C,except minor repair
work,such as repairing flush and snap switches,
replacing fuses,changing lamp sockets and
receptacles4 taping bare joints and repairing
drop cords.
Section 6.That there is hereby added to said
Ordinance No.31 the following to be known as Section 5 C:
“Section 5.
C.Upon the completion of the wiring
of any building,it shall be the duty of the
person,firm or corporation doing the same to
notify the electrical inspector,who shall inspect
the installation within 24 hours of the time such
notice is given;and if it is found to be fully
in compliance with the ordinance and does not
constitute a hazard to life and property,he
shall issue a certificate of inspection authoriz
ing connectIon to the electrical service and the
turning on of the current.All wires which are
to be hidden from view shall be inspected before
concealment,and any person,firm or corporation
installing such wires shall notify the electrical
inspector,giving him 24 hours in which to make
the required inspection before wires are covered up.”

Section 7.That there is hereby added to said
Ordinance No.31 the following to be known as Section 5 0;
“Section 5.
0.Application for permit to install
electric wires and appliances shall be made to
the electrical inspector by the person,firm
or corporation installing such wires and appliances,
and the following fees shall be paid to the Town
Clerk for said permits and the inspection of
installation:
For one or two outlets:
Inspection fee .50
Permit .25
For three to five outlets:
Inspection fee l.OO
Permit .50
For more than five outlets:
For each additional outlet over
five,Inspection fee shall be
.10 for each additional outlet.
No additional charge shall be
made for permit.

Section 8.Except as hereby amended,said
Ordinance No.31 shall remain in full force and effect.
