ORDINANCE NO.24].
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING BUILDING AND ELECTRIC
WIRING IN THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO.
ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE,VOLUME I,1961 EDITION AND THE NATIONAL
ELECTRICAL CODE,1962 EDITION.AMENDING
SECTIONS 11.1 AND 11.5 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO:
Section 1.That the Uniform Building Code,Volume I,
1961 Edition,issued by the International Conference of
Building Officials,610 South Broadway,Los Angeles 1L1,
California,except for those parts relating to building exits
and heating,ventilating and air conditioning,at least
three (3)copies of which have been certified as true
copies by the Mayor and Clerk of the Town of Estes Park,
Colorado and which are now on file in the office of the Town
Clerk,is hereby enacted and adopted by reference and
incorporated herein and made a part of the Municipal Code of
the Town of Estes Park,Colorado as hereinafter provided.
The said Uniform Building Code is a complete code which
governs the construction,alteration,moving,demolition,
repair and use of any building and structure within the Town
of Estes Park.Its purpose is to provide minimum standards
to safeguard life or limb,health,property,and public welfare
by regulating and controlling the design,construction,
quality of materials,use and occupancy,location and main
tenance of all buildings and structures within the town and
certain equipment specifically regulated therein.
Section 2.That the National Electrical Code,1962
Edition,issued by the National Board of Fire Underwriters,
L165 California Street,San Francisco L,California,at least
three (3)copies of which have been certified as true copies
by the Mayor and Clerk of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado
and which are now on file in the office of the Town Clerk,is

hereby enacted and adopted by reference and incorporated
herein and made a part of the Municipal Code of the Town
of Estes Park,Colorado as hereinafter provided.The said
National Electrical Code is a complete code which governs
the electric conductors and equipment installed within or
on public and private buildings and other premIses,including
yards,carnival and parking lots,and industrial substations;
also the conductors that connect the installations to a
supply of electricity,and other outside conductors adjacent
to the premises.Its purpose is the practical safeguarding
of persons and of buildings and their contents from hazards
arising from the use of electricity for light,heat,power,
radio,signalling and for other purposes.
Section 3.That Section 11.1 of the Municipal
Code of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado be and the same is
hereby amended to read:
11.1 Uniform Building Code Adopted.No building shall be
hereafter constructed,erected,enlarged,altered or moved
into the Town unless the same shall,as to design,construction,
quality of materials and workmanship,conform with the Uniform
Building Code,vol.1,1961 edition,issued by the International
Conference of Building Officials,610 South Broadway,Los
Angeles ]1j,California,which said building code,except for
those parts relating to building exits and heating,venti
lating and air conditioning,is incorporated herein and
adopted by reference.
Section L.That Section 11.5 of the Municipal
Code of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado be and the same is
hereby amended to read:
11.5 National Electrical Code Adopted.All electrical
wiring,fixtures,and appliances installed,altered or repaired
within the Town,in or in connection with any building therein,
shall,so far as materials,design,workmanship and manner

of installation,conform with the National Electrical Code,
1962 Edition,issued by the National Board of Fire Underwriters,
L165 California Street,San Francisco,California,which said
National Electrical Code is incorporated herein and adopted
by reference.
Section 5.The Board of Trustees herewith finds,
determines and designates that this Ordinance is necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety for the regulation of the construction,alteration,
moving,demolition,repair and use of buildings and structures,
and the installation of electric conductors and equipment
in public and private buildings and other premises affects
the public health and safety,and whereas in the opinion of
the Board of Trustees an emergency exists,tht s ordinance
shall take effect and be in force five (5)days after its
final passage,adoption and publication.
The above ordinance was passed on second reading and
adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,
Colorado at its regular meeting held on Monday,July 22nd ,
1963.
