Minutes of a. rQgUlar meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park, Latimer
County, Colorado. Meeting held in the Town Hall in said Town of Estes Park on the. 26th
day of__-!T.anuar,Y_ A. D. 19.33.__ at regular meeting hour.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Clarence A. Graves
Present: Mayor Glarence A. Graves Tnistees: Henry Dannels, Chas. L.
Herzog, Bert J. McConnell, Jess Poling, George H. Watson.
Also Present: Lee H. Tallant, Supt. of Works
Verne H. Fenton, Town Clerk.
Absent: Trustee G.E. Casey.
Mr. Henry Landers, Mr. Mathew Landers, together with their Attorney,
Mr. Robert Mitchell, of Denver, appeared before the Board, supporting
their application for a Restaurant Liquor License, at the "El Rancho
premises. Allthree addressed the Board in favor of the application.
The Clerk presented a petition to the Board, filed today, signed by
twenty-three residents of the area, protesting the issuance of
a liquor license at the El Rancho premises. Mr. Mitchell informed
the Board that according to law, the Town Board could not reject this
application at this time, that a public notice must be published or
posted, for a public hearing, before the Board could act on the
application, and requested that the Board publish skuch a notice.
The Board informed the Clerk to publish said notice, providing, the
Town Attorney agreed that it was mandatory according to law.
Mr. Frank Matejka; Mr. Ben King and Mr. Robert Kruger, of the Bureau
of Reclamation, appeared before the Board. Mr. Matejka informed the
Board that he was -leaving the employ of the Bureau of Reclamation, and
that Mr. Ben King -had taken over the job of planning the disposition
of the Bureau houseing and administration area at Estes Park. Mr.
King informed the -Board of their tentative plans, that the Town would
be given all possible consideration, and that he would keep the Town
advised on plans and developments.
Mr. Joseph Andrew appeared before, supporting the application of
Joseph Andrew and Duke 3channels, for a Restaurant Liquor License,
filed on January 19th, at Lot 31, White Meadow View Place' Addition.
The Clerk read the application in full, whereupon Trustee Poling
moved that a notice of public hearing be published. Trustee Herzog
seconded the motion. Upon roll call said motion carried by the
following vote: Those voting "Yes" Trustees Dannels, Herzog, McConnell,
Poling and Watson. "No" none.
The Clerk presented a summary and explanation of the general property
1953• taxes to be collected within the corporate limits of the Town during
Trustee Watson reported on the meeting and activities of the Light and
Power Committee.
Superindendent Lee Tallant asked authority to rebuild the river wall
along the West end of Wiest Drive. Permission was granted.
Trustee Herzog reported that the Public Building Committee was in the
process of trying to lease the Country Club for the coming season.
The Clerk was instructed to ask for legal advise regarding the con-
struction of a curb in front of the Trouthaven property.
There being no further business, it was regularly moved, sec. ded and
carried that the meeting adjourn.
