Minutes of a special . meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park, Larimer County, Colorado. Meeting held in the Town Hall in said Town of Estes Park on the. day of_ 'epl" ALY , A. D. 195.2 at regular meeting hour. Meeting called to order by Mayor Ronald C. Brodie 2eth. Present: Mayor Ronald C. Brodie Trustees: G.E. Casey, C.A. Graves, Chas. Herzog, Jess Poling, George H. Watson. Also Present: Lee H. Tellant, lupt. of Works Leon Sweetland) Supt. of Power Carl Bailey, Accountant Hatfield Chilson, Town Attorney Verne H. Fenton, Town Clerk Absent: Trustee Merl Morehead. This meeting called primarly for the purpose of discussing the present financila condition of the Light & Power Department. Mr. Chilson reviewed the acquistion of the Department together with the principals involved in the Towne municipal. ownership. The purchase power contract and current financial statements were reviewed. Leon Sweetland itimized the improvements that must be made to the system during this year in order to give adequate service, these improvements amounting to » 20,000.00. After a detail discussion, the Board unanimously agreed that although a small cash surplus was accumulated during the past year, that the finances of the Department were not adequate to attempt any change in revenue or operations at this time. The Board also agreed that the question.of rates would be considered as soon as a cash reserve permitted. The question.of the Town acquiring a portion of Lot 51 in Buenna Vista Terrace for public parking purposes was discussed with Mr. Chilson. Following Mr. Chilson's opinion, it was agreed thatthere was not sufficient time between now and the Town election, to prepare the legal proceedings for a bond issue and have it placed on the ballot.
