Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park, Larimer
24th
County, Colorado. Meeting held in the Town Hall in said Town of Estes Park on the
day of Nov. , A. D. 19 52 at regular meeting hour.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Clarence A. Graves
Present: Mayor Clarence A. Graves Trustees: G.E. Casey, Henry Dannels,
Bert MoConnell and George Watson.
Also Present: Lee H. Tallant, Supt. of Works
Verne H. Fanton, Town Clerk
Absent: Trustees Charles L. Herzog and Jess Poling.
Minutes of the regular meeting held on November 10,
read and approved.
Mr. Andy Jones, Fred Clatworthy Jr., J.C. Caldwell, O.L. Tiller and
Kyle Miller appeared beofre the Board, representing the Chamber of
Commerce, and ask that the Town budget at least an amount equal to
last years contribution to the Chamber. Mayor Graves informed the
Committee that`the Town would no doubt su-)port the Chamber to the
best of its ability.
The Committee also presented a proposal to the Board to enlarge the
corporate limits of the Town by a sizeable amount, in order to receive
additional revenue from taxation, a portion of which might be
budgeted by the Town for recreational purposes. Following a detail
discussion, the Mayor announced that the Board would investigate the
plan.
Mr. O.M. Nagl appeared before the Board, eupporitng his application
now on file, for a liquor license. Mr. Nagl explained his plans for
improvehng the`location and method of operation, and filed a letter
to that effect. No action was taken on the application at this time.
The Clerk presented the applications of Beth E. and John A. Murphy Jr.,
John A. Murphy, El Rancho and American Legion Club, for liquor license
renewals. Trustee Casey moved that they be approved. Trustee Watson
seconded the motion. Upon roll call said motion carried by the
following vote: Those voting "Yes" Trustees Casey, Dannels, McConnell
and Watson. "No" None.
Trustee Watson reported on the monthly meeting of the Light & Power
Committee.
Mayor Graves appointed Trustees McConnell and Dannels to represent
the Town on the Chamber of Commerce proposal.
The Board agreed to have the light & power department proceed with
Xmas street decorations as per sample installed in front of the
Town Hall.
The Clerk read a letter addressed to the Board from Mr. E.R. Smith,
under date of November 19, 1952.
The Clerk informed the Board that he was now contacting the property
owners, adjacent to the street back of the Post Office, asking them
to donate a strip of land for street purposes.
There being no further business to come before the meeting;; it was
regularly moved, seconded and carried that the meeting a,yourn
