Minutes of the regular meeting held on January 9, read and approved
as read.
Mr. John Brown, of Estes Park, appeared before the Board, and stated
that he might be interested in leasing the Golf and Country Club,
providing the Town completed its plans to build a new golf course
and providing a long term lease could be entered into. A detailed
discussion was held regarding the operations of the club. Mr.
Brown was informed that if he were interested, it would be in order
to submit a definite proposal to the Board.
Trustee Watson moved that the Light & Power Dept. subscribe $ 25.00
to the annual budget of the South St. Vrain Association. Trustee
Swearingen seconded the motion. Upon roll call said motion unanimous-
ly carried.
A letter from Ray H. Bradshaw was read to the Board, asking con-
sideration for additional insurance business from the Town. The
Board decided it would not be just or right to take existing policies
from other agents, but, if and when a new policy was considered, Mr.
rr.Bradshaw would be contacted.
Trustee Watson reported to the Board on the three meetings held by
the Light & Power Committee, consisting of Mayor Brodie, Mayor Pro Tem
Clarence Graves, Trustees Watson and Morehead, and employees Bailey,
Sweetland and Fanton. Re -organization, adoption of rules and regula-
tions, and proposed changes were reported and discussed. The fact
timid was brought out that the Town had, since June, 1946, connected
and served customers at Glen Haven for a minimum guarantee of $ 18.00
per year. Obviously, this policy could not continue indefinitly,
therefore Trustee Graves moved that this policy be withdrawn four
years after service had been made available, or July 1, 1950, and
that future connects be considered on their own merits under the
regular extension policy. Trustee Casey seconded the motion. Upon
roll call said motion carried by the following vote: Those voting
NYes", Trustees Casey, Graves, Hurd, Swearingen and Watson. Those
voting "No", none.
Leon Sweetland ask the Board to consider an increase in wages for the
Light & Power Dept. lineman, in order to bring their rate of pay up
to the standard going wage scale. In considering the proposal the
Board stated that in the past it had been the policy of the Board
to adjust wages of all Town employees at the same time. The Board
analyized.the wage rate of each employee, and following a detail
discussion Trustee Watson moved that the wages of men working by
the hour be increased by thirteen cents per hour, and the wages of
monthly men be increased by $ 22.50 per month. Trustee Casey seconded
the motion. Upon roll call said motion carried by the following
vote: Those voting "Yee" trustees Casey, Graves, Hurd, Swearingen
and Watson. Those voting "No", None. ^__
This action made the following wage scale in effect:
