Meeting called to order by Mayor Ronald C. Brodie
Present: Mayor Ronald C. Brodie Trustees: G.E. Casey, C.A. Graves
S.M. Hurd, Merl Morehead, Glen Swearingen and Geo. H. Watson
Also Present: Lee H. Tallant, Supt. of Works
Maurice Cole, Supt. of Power
Verne H Fanton, Town Clerk
Absent: None.
Minutes of the regular meeting held on May 9, read and approved as read.
At the suggestion of Mayor Brodie the Clerk presented a proposed in-
suranoe policy for consideration, covering possible loss of cash and
securities at the Town Hall. After discussion Trustee Casey moved that
the Town purchase the policy, from agent Ray H. Bradshaw. Trustee
Morehead seconded the motion. Upon roll call said motion carried by
the following vote: Those voting "Yee" Trustees Casey, Graves, Hurd,
Morehead, Swearingen and Watson. Those voting "No", none.
As a result of previous board discussion, Trustee Graves introduced
the following entitled Ordinance and moved that it be adopted:
"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 112 OF THE
ORDINANCES OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK, COLORADO,
ENTITLED 'AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE OF AND
TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS AND HIGH-
WAYS OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK, PROVIDING PEN-
ALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF AND REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES , OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH"
Trustee Hurd seconded the motion. The Ordinance was then read in full.
The question being upon the passing and adopting of the Ordinance, the
roll was called with the following result: Those voting "Yee" and in
favor of passing the Ordinance, Trustees Casey, Graves, Hurd, Morehead
Swearingen and Watson. Those voting "No" and against the passing of
the Ordinance, None. Whereupon Mayor Brodie declared said Ordinance
duly passed and adopted, Ordered it numbered 122, and published
according to law.
The board then outlined the provisions to be included in two additional
Ordinances relating to the delivery of inflamable liquids and the
private use of Town Curbs, and instructed the Clerk to have said
Ordinances prepared.
The Clerk reported that the contracts between the Town and property
owners for the oiling of town streets were not 100% complete but
that negotiations were continuing.
Maurice Cole, Supt. of Power, informed the Board that the Estee Park
Winter Sports club had requested temporary service at the Fall River
Ski Hill for the nite of June 25th in order to prepare for a ski meet
on June 26th, and that the Chamber of Commerce had requested temporary
service at Lake Estes for the dedication ceremony on June 6th. The
Board approved both requests.
After discussing individual light & power extension applications, the
Board approved the applications of Lon Havens, Carl Albert and Pine
View Acres, as written and itimized by Maurice Cole.
Regarding the application of Mrs. Apgar, located about 3 miles below
Glen Hagen, the Board stated that it would be necessary to apply the
regular extension policy in order to make service available.

Mr. Cole presented a letter from the District Manager of the Bureau
of Reel=+nation, under date of May 16, 1949, asking the Town to issue
a permit to the Bureau to use a small portion of Stanley Park
ground to move the present sub -stations on, as a temporary measure.
Following discussion Trustee Morehead moved that the Mayor and Clerk
be authorized and instructed to issue such a permit. Trustee
Swearingen seoonded the motion. Upon roll call said motion carried
by the following vote: Those voting "Yes" Trustees Casey, Graves,
Hurd, Morehead, Swearingen and Watson. Those voting "No", none.
The Clerk reported that special requests were being received at the
Town Hall to use loud speakers on the streets for special purposes.
The Board informed the Clerk to enforce the Ordinance prohibiting
loud speakers and that appeals my be brought before the Board.
A request to construct a 4' % 6' fr a building on Lot 4A, Buenna
Vista Terrace, by Wayne Noyes, was refused by the Board, it being
in violation of the building code.
There being no further business to come before the Board, it was
regularly moved, seconded and carried that the meeting adjourn.
