HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION 13-89Q 0 RESOLUTION 13-89 WHEREAS,the Board of Trustees hereby finds and recognizes that support is needed to further the legislation now in Congress to approve the expansion of the boundaries to the Rocky Mountain National Park by including Lily Lake and the Reichhardt Prop erties;and WHEREAS,such support is vital to retain the scenic areas surrounding the Rocky Mountain National Park. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park: 1.That the Town of Estes Park hereby supports the expansion of the boundaries of the Rocky Mountain National Park by including the Lily Lake and Richhardt Properties. We need to state our support for this legislation.It provides for the inclusion of Lilty Lake (Approx.300 acres), and the Reichhardt property to the north,(Approx.160 acres) into Rocky Mountain National Park at no cost to the government.* If this is not done the Lilly Lake property,presently approved for 300 double house sites,will continue to be developed.The Reichhardt property,presently undeveloped, will come under pressure from adjoining development.The owners of these properties support this P.arkenlargement proposal.The local and national communities will benefit from the protection. of these scenic areas.Lily Lake was the site of the “Mountain Man Rendezvous”scene in the TV movie of Centennial.
