HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCE 09-84o 0 ORDINANCE NO.9-84 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK, COLORADO,THE SAME PERTAINING TO VOTING POWERS OF MAYOR BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARE,COLORADO: Section 1.That Chapter 2 of the Municipal Code of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado,is amended by adding a new subsection 2.12.030 to read as follows: 2.12.030 Mayoral approval.Any ordinance adopted and all resolutions authorizing the expenditure of money or the entering into of a contract require the approval and signature of the mayor before they become valid,except as otherwise provided in this Section.such ordinance or resolution shall be presented to the Mayor within forty-eight hours after the action of the Board of Trustees for his signature approving the same.If he disapproves,he shall return such ordinance or resolution to the Board of Trustees at its next regular meeting with his objections in writing.The Board of Trustees shall cause such objections to be entered at large upon the record and shall proceed at the same or next subsequent meeting to consider the question:“Shall the ordinance or resolution, notwithstanding the Mayor’s objections,be passed?”If two- thirds of the members elected to the Board of Trustees vote in the affirmative,such resolution shall be valid,and such ordinance shall become a law the same as if it had been approved by the Mayor.If the Mayor tails to return to the next subsequent meeting of the Board of Trustees,any resolution or ordinance presented to him for his approval,the same shall become a valid ordinance or resolution,as the case may be,in like manner,as if it had been approved by him. Section 2.The effective date of this ordinance shall be April 3,1984. Section 3.The Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,Colorado,herewith finds,determines and designates that this Ordinance is necessary for their immediate preserva tion of the public peace,health and safety,in order to provide for uniform administration regulations;and whereas,in the opinion of the Board of Trustees an emergency exists,this Ordinance shall take effect on April 3,1984. 4 0 o I hereby certify that the above Ordinance was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees on the l3thday of March ,1984,and published in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Estes Park,Colorado.
