HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION 01-92ARESOLUTION 1-92 A WHEREAS,the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park is charged with protecting and advancing the economic welfare of the Town;and WHEREAS,the Town of Estes Park has expended great energy and resources toward the increased economic opportunities in the Town during the winter months;and WHEREAS,the Town of Estes Park is also charged with the responsibility of maintaining a quality of life for its citizens; and WHEREAS,the Board of Trustees recognizes the role that downhill skiing has played in contributing to both the economic welfare and quality of life of the citizens of Estes Park;and WHEREAS,the Board of Trustees believes that the Board and Town staff are particularly qualified to determine the economic and social impacts of the ski area at Hidden Valley on the Town. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO: That the Board of Trustees request the National Park Service to reconsider its announced decision to close the ski area at Hidden Valley permanently,to permit review and substantive comment on the internal report purportedly relied upon in making this decision,to take public comment before making a determination on this matter,and to consult with the Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park,as to the economic and social impacts of this decision. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the federal elected representatives and senators for the Town of Estes Park be urged to look into this matter and take action to oppose this decision.
