IN RELATION TO AUTOMOBILES AND VEHICLES OF ALL
KINDS, RELATING TO TRAFFIC RULES AND RULES OF
THE ROAD, PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY FOR THE
VIOLATION THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK:
Section 1. DEFINITIONS: The term "Street" shall apply
to that part of the public highway intended for vehicles. The
term "Motor Vehicle" shall apply to all vehicles propelled by any
power other than muscular power, which do not run upon a rail.
The term "Chauffeur" shall apply to any person operating a motor
vehicle for hire, or as the employee of the owner thereof. The
term "Driver" shall apply to a rider, driver or leader of a horse
to a person who puehes, draws, propels, operates, or is in charge
of a vehiole. The term "Vehicle" shall apply to all conveyances
except a baby carriage, or a street oar, or railroad oar. The
term "Parked" shall apply to a waiting vehicle, exoept vehicles
stopped to load or unload. The term "Street Intersection" shall
apply to any street which joins another at an angle, whether it
crosses the street or not.
Section 2. THE TOWN MARSHAL SHALL HAVE CONTROL: The
Town Marshall is hereby authorized, empowered and ordered to
direct, control, restrict and regulate, and when necessary, tem-
porarily to divert or exclude in the interest of public: safety,
and convenience, the movement of pedestrian, animal and vehicular
traffic of every kind in streets, and to adopt and enforce re-
gulations in regard thereto not inconsistent with the specific
provisions of this ordinance.
Section 3. LIGHTS: (a) During the period between
one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise, and
at all other times and places when and where there is insuffi-
cient light to clearly reveal all persons and objects five
hundred feet distant, all motor vehicles shall display one red
light visible three hundred feet only from the rear, and two
LICENSES (Conclusion).
ARTICLE 7.
Section 1. If any section, paragraph, clause, sentence,
phrase, or part hereof of this ordinance i8 for any reason held
invalid, such invaliaity shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance. The Board of Trustees
of the Town of Estes Park hereby declares that it would have
passed this ordinance, and each section, paragraph, clause,
sentence, or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any
one or more of the other sections, paragraphs, clauses, sen-
tences, or phrases or parts hereof he declared invalid.
Section 2. This Ordinance is necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, and safety and in the
opinion of the Board of Trustees an emergency exists; there-
iore, this Ordinance shall take effect immediately after its
final passage and publication.
