AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6.6 OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE TOWN OF ESTES PARK,COLORADO,PERTAIN
ING TO WATER TAPS AND WATER FEES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF
ESTES PARK,COLORADO:
Section 1.That Section 6.6 of the Municipal Code of the
Town of Estes Park,Colorado be and t:he same is hereby amended to
read:
6.6 Tapping Charge -Special Fees.The consumer shall
pay to the Town Clerk for each new water tap a fee which shall be the
total sum of the following charges:The actual cost to the Town of the
corporation cock,expansion joint,curb box,tapping saddle and water
meter furnished by the Town to make such tap,and the following sums for
each connection to the Town’s water system:
5/8”or 3/4”connection $235.00 -per unit
1”connection 350.00 -per unit
1-1/4”connection 500.00 -per unit
1-1/2”connection 650.00 —per unit
2”connection 1,050.00 -per unit
3”connection 2,100.00 -per unit
4”connection 3,500.00 -per unit
6”connection 7,000.00 -per unit
In addition to the foregoing fee,for a water tap outside of the corporate
limits of the Town,the consumer shall also pay for each tap the sum of
$234.37 per acre of land to be served by such tap with a minimum sum of
$117.18.The Water Committee shall determine the area of the land to be
served.In lieu of the foregoing sum to be paid for each acre of land
served,the Town of Estes Park may accept water rights that will yield
annually to the Town,in the judgment of the Board of Trustees,1.5 acre
feet of water per acre of land being served.All necessary pipe,
fittings,valves,shut off,trenching,back filling and installation of
the tap,must be

at the expense of the consumer and under the supervision
of the water superintendent.All water service connections
and all water service extensions,both within and without
the corporate limits,are subject to special fees as
adopted by the Board of Trustees.Tapping must be done by a
licensed plumber and a standard corporation cock and expansion
joint,furnished by the Town,must be used.No water service
shall be furnished to the consumer until all tap fees and
special fees have been paid to the Town Clerk.
All property for which a connection fee has been
paid after January 20,1966 as herein provided,must be
connected to the Town’s water system for water service within
ten (10)years from the date of the payment of such fee.
After the expiration of the heretofore provided ten (10)year
period a new application for water service must be made and
another connection fee paid,at the rate then prevailing for
such fees,before water service will be furnished to any
property.All property for which a connection fee has been
paid prior to January 20,1966,must be connected to the Town’s
water system for water service prior to January 20,1986 before
a new application for water service must be made and another
connection fee paid as provided in this section for applica
tions granted after January 20,1966.
Section 2.The Board of Trustees herewith finds,
determines and designates that this Ordinance is necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public peace,health
and safety,and whereas in the opinion of the Board of
Trustees an emergency exists,this Ordinance shall take
effect and be in force five ()days after its final passage,
adoption and publication./
